The house manual.

Getting to the property: 3 Frasers Lane is directly off the Great Alpine Road (also known as Gavan street) coming into Bright from Myrtleford…its the first road on your left after the High Country Motor Inn. It’s a standout black corrugated steel house, we don’t think you’ll miss it! We have a driveway at the far end of the property… it fits 2 cars and gives you a path to the front door.

Check-in is at 3pm and check-out is at 12pm.

Smart Lock Access: We have an electronic smart lock on the entrance door. On the day of your arrival, we will send you a unique code. Follow these tips to use the smart lock.

  • To unlock, touch the “Yale” logo, enter your code and then touch the “tick” - you’ll hear the door unlock.

  • When exiting the property, to lock the door, simply close the door and touch the “Yale” logo.

Wi-Fi and Netflix: The house has Wi-Fi Internet access. The details are in the physical house manual and in your Airbnb interface. We also offer you Netflix on the TV. Please use the Black & Bright profile when and or if prompted. Please do not log out of Netflix to use your own account.

Please do not feed any wildlife (i.e. ducks, kangaroos, foxes, deer, ravens, and magpies) and please close the gates, especially at night. This keeps the wildlife in the area out and prevents them from scatting in the yard.

In the event of a power outage, we have a torch in the laundry draw.

If the stove & oven isn’t working it could have been accidentally tripped so check the electrical meter box outside the property. To the right of the stovetop, there are 3 switches. Only ever switch off the middle one in an emergency. If you accidentally switched it off, go to the electrical meter box outside and switch on all the circuits, then turn on the middle switch.

Heating and the fireplace: Please only use the fireplace if you know how to use one. Our fireplace is a state-of-the-art European fireplace that doesn’t require too much wood. There is an instruction card in the woodbox. Please be sure to use the airflow control underneath the fireplace box (open the door to see it) to ensure the fire does not burn too hot. Like all fireplaces, it gets very hot - therefore please make use of the fire glove provided to adjust airflow and open the door. Additionally, we have split systems in each room for instant heating.

Air-conditioning units and fans: Each room has an air-con and the master bedroom and lounge also have fans. Turn the fans on at the light switch panel - there is a switch that is labeled “fan”. You can then control the fans with the remote control. For both air con and fans be sure to point the remotes at the respective units. The fans can also be used in winter on a very slow setting to assist with pushing heat down from our super high ceilings. Please turn them off when not in use.

Hot water: Black & Bright is a little bit eco-friendly. The house runs on solar hot water. This means you get hot water during the day and overnight there is a boiler to ensure you have hot water in the morning. On cold overcast days, you may run out of hot water in the evening. If you detect hot water is running out, there is a button marked in the electrical box on the side of the house. Press it for a few seconds and it will turn the boiler on immediately (you’ll hear a click) – hot water will be ready in around an hour.

Music: We have a Marshall Bluetooth speaker on hand for your auditory delight. Play some tunes on the iPod there, or connect your smartphone to the Bluetooth. Follow these instructions to use the speaker:

  • Pull the power button toward you and hold for 3 secs – the speaker is on when the buttons light up.

  • Press the Bluetooth button for a few seconds to get it into pairing mode. Connect your smartphone.

  • The speaker goes into sleep mode if you do not play music – pull the power button forward for a second and it will come to life.

  • Pull the power button toward you for 3 secs to power off (the lights turn off).

Clothes washing: There is a washing machine for your needs and we supply washing detergent. For drying, we provide a hanging space above the sink in the laundry, a small clothing airing rack, and a clothing line outside.

Waste disposal: We prove two bins outside for general waste and recycling. If you are departing on Monday we kindly ask if you could please put bins out on the Great Alpine Road.

Breakages: We understand accidents happen. When you leave, if you can keep us informed so that we can attend to the clean-up and replacement of broken glass and crockery it would be much appreciated.

Smoking: There is a no smoking policy at Black & Bright, in or around the property. Please note, importantly, that Bright and the Alpine Region is a region with a high fire danger rating, especially in the warmer months. Please be mindful to dispose of burning cigarettes with due caution.

Eating and Drinking: Please keep food and drink out of the bedrooms and the lounge areas. Spills can be tough on delicate fabrics and rugs.
